Job description

Are you a skilled Mechanical Engineer with a passion for maintaining and optimising high-performance systems? Do you want to play a vital role in ensuring the smooth, safe, and reliable operation of our brewery and packaging processes?

We have a niche opportunity for an innovative and logical Mechanical Engineer to join our collaborative engineering team, responsible for maintaining and enhancing mechanical systems to meet production demands. The projects you will work on will directly contribute to the production of high-quality beer by minimising downtime, driving efficiency, and implementing innovative solutions.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot issues, optimise processes, and ensure compliance with safety standards, all while enjoying the challenge of working in a fast-paced brewery environment.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Ensure the smooth operation of brewing and packaging machinery, reducing downtime, and optimising performance across the plant
  • Troubleshoot, identify and repair mechanical faults with timely remedial actions, prevent unplanned equipment breakdowns and maintain production continuity
  • Execute modifications and installations of new machinery and equipment in line with engineering management requests
  • Adhere and champion health and safety standards, ensuring all equipment operates within safety guidelines to protect staff, contractors, and equipment from hazards
  • Uphold company hygiene standards and regulations, ensuring a safe and clean working environment
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding and relevant knowledge of engineering techniques, tools and procedures, applying to your designated area of responsibility and improving operations
  • Accurately maintain departmental records, including but not limited to maintenance logs and equipment data for audit compliance
  • Adhere to established departmental operating procedures, ensuring consistency and quality across engineering activities
  • Ensure all activities and equipment comply with applicable regulations, such as HMC&E, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 standards, while supporting ongoing quality improvement initiatives
  • Attend team meetings, engineering briefings, and training courses as required
  • Carry out any additional tasks as reasonably requested by engineering management
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Demonstrable mechanical experience in plant/Production based operations
  • Candidate to have completed a recognised Apprenticeship in Mechanical engineering
  • Previous experience working on Air systems and pneumatics essential
  • Welding qualifications an advantage
  • Previous experience working on electrical equipment is advantageous
