Job Description
Brief Description:
Project Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex custom turn-key automation and robotic equipment/systems that optimize manufacturing processes utilizing CAD (Inventor).
Responsibilities:
- Engineer designs that satisfy contract specifications and all applicable design standards while meeting material budget constraints.
- Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc., as related to machine and tool designs.
- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness, etc., in the development of equipment, processes and products.
- Conduct research that tests or analyzes the feasibility of design, operation, and performance of equipment and components.
- Provide technical directions to Toolmakers and Machinists as needed.
- Participate in design and project reviews as needed.
- Research and specify appropriate purchased components.
- Create and update drawings, flow diagrams, Bills of Materials, organize release packages.
- Create and maintain documentation for Operating Manuals.
- Ensure the mechanical design is functional, robust, and cost effective.
- Innovate and use good judgement to incorporate company standards, customer and regulatory requirements.
- Consult regularly with Project Engineer Supervisor to report status and raise issues.
- Work with suppliers to find/develop the most functional and economical solutions to mechanical design issues.
- Work under the confines of project schedule and budget.
- Problem solve with Machine Builders to debug mechanical issues.
- Complete correspondence, documentation and reports as required including updates.
- Maintain departmental goals in keeping with company objectives.
- Support and participate in Quality Management initiatives.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Must have excellent proficiency with CAD (Inventor).
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair and maintenance.
- Ability to understand and align activities with department priorities and objectives.
- Strong diagnostic problem solving skills.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple activities/initiatives at one time.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with a high regard for accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality.
- Must be able to work from schematics and rough sketches to complete assignments.

Experience and Education Requirements:
- 5+ years of mechanical automation experience.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
