Job description

Mechanical Engineer
Location - Reading

We are looking for a Mechanical Lead Engineer working on a client-facing project. You will be involved in concept studies through to detailed design, providing a variety of interesting work. Industries can range across Water, Transport, and Energy including Green Energy, Nuclear, and Oil and Gas.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Electrical discipline technical input for projects and/or proposals; including preparation, checking and/or approval of engineering documentation, equipment, and materials.
  2. Mentoring and developing graduates.
  3. Ensuring all applicable national and international codes of practice, legislation, and company/client standards and procedures are complied with.
  4. Preparing work scopes and equipment requisitions for HV and LV switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, power factor correction, trace-heating, lighting, and other electrical equipment.
  5. Reviewing suppliers' quotations and preparing technical bid assessments.
Experience Required
  1. You will be Degree qualified (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g. Electronic / Electrical / Control Engineering).
  2. Chartered or Incorporated engineer status with a relevant professional body or evidence of working towards gaining these professional titles.
  3. Good working knowledge of design practices and installation requirements of the discipline across a range of industries with extensive UK legislation and standards and HSE requirements.
  4. >10 years engineering experience in the Oil & Gas, Nuclear, and/or Water sectors.
  5. Experience in the requirements for CE marking of plant and equipment, including Atex, PED, Low Voltage Directive, Machinery Directive, and EMC Compliance Laws & regulations.
