The Opportunity
We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented professional to take overall responsibility for delivering all mechanical requirements across our project portfolio, working closely with our designer and suppliers. This role involves collaborating with the commercial team to procure both offsite and onsite manufactured mechanical components, with a particular focus on offsite assembly and modularisation. The successful candidate will closely monitor the progress of mechanical works to ensure alignment with agreed programmes and budgets, while also conducting factory inspections and quality audits to maintain the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction for all mechanical installations.

What you will be doing
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of sustainable construction practices and manage engineering activities that support sustainable development goals.
- Collaborate with our designer and supply chain to maximise the use of digital tools, supporting an integrated approach to offsite and onsite delivery.
- Utilise the BIM model to ensure mechanical designs and installations are fully coordinated with civil and electrical elements
- Apply technical expertise to the placement and administration of sub-contracts and material orders related to mechanical equipment. Review, vet, and approve supplier proposals and designs in line with project requirements.
- Actively engage with the supply chain to assess and enhance their capabilities, ensuring they contribute effectively to project delivery.
- Oversee mechanical installation works, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, technical standards, and quality expectations.
- Develop accurate and logical programmes for mechanical works and ensure integration with the overall project plan.
- Monitor and report on the progress and cost performance of mechanical works and participate in project production meetings.
- Develop and implement quality assurance plans, maintaining thorough records in line with company standards and documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with operational teams and relevant stakeholders to plan and successfully deliver outage works with minimal disruption.
What we need from you
- Display a high degree of technical knowledge and have relevant mechanical project engineering experience within a manufacturing or construction organisation.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills who can multi-task and consistently meet challenging
- Commercially astute.
- Experience of both pre-production and production mechanical project engineering desirable.
- Has an appreciation of MMC, Lean Construction, Agile Programme Management, Production Thinking and other techniques that assure programme, cost and quality performance.
- Programme focused with an ability to plan and organise resources both off and on site to deliver on time and in full.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with a range of people.
- BIM/digital experience is essential.
- Minimum HNC qualified in a mechanical engineering subject desirable.
- IT literacy essential.
- Professional qualification is desirable.
- SMSTS safety qualification and relevant CSCS card is desirable.
