Job summary

MTS Recruitment Limited in Croydon is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a specialist engineering organisation supporting overhaul, maintenance, investigation, and continuous improvement of complex mechanical systems.

This is a varied, hands-on engineering role that would suit a proactive engineer who enjoys problem-solving, technical investigations, report writing and supporting projects from concept through to completion.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND (or equivalent) in a Mechanical Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 6 years' professional engineering experience.
• Strong background in mechanical engineering, testing and technical investigations.
• Experience producing technical documentation including method statements and work instructions.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Understanding of overhaul, maintenance or production environments.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 quality systems.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of engineering decision-making.
• Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• IT literate with ability to produce high-quality technical reports.
• Flexible, hands-on and proactive approach to engineering challenges.

Responsibilities

• Carry out technical investigations, fault finding and root cause analysis.
• Produce technical reports and engineering documentation.
• Create method statements, overhaul instructions and test procedures.
• Conduct condition assessments and material analysis.
• Support overhaul and refurbishment projects.
• Manage warranty investigations and liaise with customers and suppliers.
• Review Bills of Materials and engineering changes.
• Raise and manage concessions, production permits and engineering change requests.
• Design and develop tooling solutions where required.
• Support internal departments including Projects, Production, Purchasing, Quality and Operations.
• Attend technical meetings and provide customer-facing engineering support.
• Assist in maintaining engineering and quality standards across the business.
