Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Location: Westminster, Central London
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am - 6:00pm
Reports to: Shift Engineering Supervisor
CTC Security Clearance Required (must be obtained prior to start)

We're seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong water systems bias to join our dedicated engineering team on a prestigious government contract at a Grade II* listed site in Westminster, Central London.

This is a site-based, full-time role focused on maintaining and improving key mechanical assets - with particular responsibility for domestic water systems, closed systems, plumbing, HVAC, and pressure systems - as well as supporting fabric and minor electrical works.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs

  • Take responsibility for water hygiene management in compliance with L8 regulations

  • Maintain plumbing systems, AC units, pressure systems, and general mechanical plant

  • Assist with minor fabric maintenance and basic electrical work when required

  • Liaise with the Engineering Supervisor, subcontractors, and wider team to ensure service excellence

  • Ensure all tasks are carried out safely and in accordance with relevant regulations and standards

Essential Requirements:
  • L8 qualified and confident managing water systems

  • City & Guilds/NVQ in Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering

  • Experience in building services maintenance

  • 18th Edition Test & Inspection (desirable)

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Full clean UK driving licence

  • Excellent communication and time management skills

  • Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain CTC (Counter-Terrorism Clearance)
    (Employment is conditional on successful CTC clearance prior to start)
