Overview

Lead Mechanical Engineer

We are currently looking for a contractor for a long term role (ongoing) to undertake the role of Lead Mechanical Engineer for ongoing projects around the UK. The biggest projects will be working on railway stations for telecoms/ electrification, so we would require someone who can be based in the Kings Cross office but is happy to travel around the UK when required.

This role could suit a senior level design engineer looking to take on more responsibility for leading a small team and project work.

Responsibilities
  • Performing mechanical design and development using 3D CAD software with a “hands on” approach.
  • Delivering innovative, optimised engineering solutions against requirements, within budget and timescales.
  • Managing own elements of the engineering work package.
  • Formulating prototype designs and producing physical representations.
  • Providing key support to critical technical problem investigations and delivering effective solutions.
  • Contributing towards continual improvement in product manufacturability through effective relationship building and design guidance/liaison with other engineering functions.
  • Preliminary (sizing) structural analyses (hand calculations and Creo Simulate).
  • Supporting visits and meetings at UK sites and suppliers when required, and make necessary adjustments.
Qualifications / Experience

Ideally the right candidate will have experience from any of the following industries: Energy, Rail, Industrial.
