Shift Technician Mechanical

Location: Edinburgh, EH5 2XS

Hours of work: 37.5

Contract Type: Permanent


We are currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our on-site engineering team and support the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance across a busy and varied environment.

The role will support both office spaces and manufacturing areas across two interconnected buildings, spanning four floors in total.

You will be part of a team of eight multi-skilled engineers and report directly to the site lead.

Job Description

Day-to-day responsibilities will include completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM), responding to reactive tasks, and carrying out general fabric maintenance to ensure the building services, plant, and equipment are operating safely and efficiently.

This is a great opportunity to work in a stable, well-supported engineering function with clear routes for progression.

On-site facilities include parking and access to a staff canteen, and you will be part of a close-knit, collaborative team committed to maintaining high standards of service and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and Reactive tasks in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
Operate and maintain building services plant, including HVAC systems, to ensure optimal performance.
Perform effective fault-finding and minor installation/refurbishment works as required.
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors to ensure quality and compliance.
Participate in standby/callout rota and contribute to ongoing plant efficiency improvements.
Carry out statutory inspections, ensuring safety practices align with ISS and health & safety policies.
Use CAFM systems effectively for logging, updating, and communicating maintenance tasks and projects.

Professional and Personal Competencies/Qualifications

Apprentice trained in mechanical or multi-skilled engineering
City & Guilds in Heating & Ventilation (6188), Refrigeration & Air Conditioning (6187), or Building Services Engineering (6288)
Educated to GCSE and A-Level standard (desirable)
Experience in a similar role
Skilled in maintenance and repair of HVAC systems
Familiar with BMS system operation and controls
Pressure systems AP training/experience (advantageous – training can be provided)
