Responsibilities

Our UK agency is searching for a new collaborator as a Mechanical Equipment Engineer to support all activities performed by the team devoted to the calculation of piping and valves on SZC and HPC. The position will be based in Bristol, in a permanent contract.

  • Coordination of the activities during all the tendering phases (clarification meeting, bid assessment, and surveillance of the contract).
  • Organise and lead regular progress and technical meetings with the contractor.
  • Reporting internally with RD and with the client to communicate progress, risks, issues, and planning to support contract delivery Management, tracking of design risks, leading on the preparation and assessment of early warnings and variations.
  • Management of interface with the contractor, the client, and all other stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure the successful delivery of the contract aligned with the overall engineering schedule and technical specification.
  • Coordination of overall Configuration Management activities: Contract Transfer Sheets, Design Modifications, and Referential Evolution Requests preparation as required.
  • Organisation, coordination, and monitoring of the surveillance activities (drafting of the Surveillance Programme Organisation Note and the Annual Surveillance Report).
  • Plan and contribute to the resolution of technical problems and queries.
Essential

BACKGROUND AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Masters degree or equivalent in an Engineering or Scientific Discipline.
  • Contract management and documentary surveillance.
  • Understanding of Equipment interfaces (pipework, supports, fluids, safety case, systems engineering).
  • Knowledge and experience in Nuclear Mechanical Equipment Design, manufacturing, and Operations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant Health and Safety regulations.
Desirable

  • Experience with the SZC or HPC project.
  • Experience in the nuclear sector.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with equipment contracts in the nuclear sector or other heavily regulated industries (such as oil & gas, rail).
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering design sequences.
  • Project management qualification and/or experience.
