Mechanical Engineer - Design Office (Career Move Off the Tools)

Location: Banbridge
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer looking to take the next step in your career and move into the design and project delivery side of engineering?

Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking engineering firm based in Banbridge, is looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer with 5+ years of industry experience to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone currently working on the tools who is keen to transition into a design office environment while contributing to high-profile projects across prefab heating systems and data centre infrastructure.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Support the design team in delivering bespoke pre-fabricated mechanical solutions
• Contribute to the technical development of heating and mechanical plant systems for commercial and industrial clients
• Read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and project briefs
• Assist with project planning, costings, and client requirements
• Liaise with internal departments and suppliers to ensure accurate and timely project delivery
• Provide input based on hands-on experience to enhance practical design outcomes

What We're Looking For:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a mechanical engineering role
• Strong practical/mechanical background (fabrication, installation, HVAC, plumbing, etc.)
• Interest in transitioning from site-based or hands-on roles into a design/project office environment
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics
• Excellent communication skills and willingness to work collaboratively across teams
• CAD experience is an advantage, but training can be provided
