Job summary

A leading solutions provider in the Oil & Energy sector is seeking a driven Mechanical Engineer to support the development of down-hole valves. You will be responsible for the design of mechanical systems, stress analysis, and generating CAD models. The ideal candidate has a degree in Mechanical Engineering and 4-6 years of experience in downhole tools design, with skills in CAD applications. This role offers collaboration with various operations and field disciplines.

Qualifications

  • Materials knowledge of metals and elastomers.

Were looking for a driven and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a stand out solutions provider in the Oil & Energy sector.

As a Mechanical Engineer, youll join a growing project team supporting the companys ongoing development of down-hole valves, primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of the companys extensive valve systems, with a view to develop new innovative product lines.

This includes providing design support through analysing and diagnosing product related issues, understanding applications and practices, and developing valve designs from concept to production. The Mechanical Engineer will also provide support to purchasing, operations and field/offshore disciplines.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design of mechanical components and systems
  • Stress analysis calculations
  • Generate CAD models and drawings (layouts, assemblies, detail, client etc)
  • Perform test build & prototype testing of new equipment
  • Advise on ordering of equipment for new tools and development work
  • Support internal and external customers on technical queries
  • Support operations by working at client sites (onshore and offshore)
  • Mentor other staff

Skills & Experience

Required

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or relevant Science & 4-6 years experience in the design and development of downhole tools
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • CAD & PDM application skills (Ideally Autodesk Inventor & Vault)
  • Use of MS Office applications
  • Experience with mechanical components
  • Stress analysis calculation skills
  • Materials knowledge metals and elastomers

Background in one or more of the following areas:

  • Experience in design and development of mechanical downhole tools
  • Oil and gas industry experience
  • Experience working with downhole valves or packers
  • Experience with MathCAD
  • Knowledge of national and international standards related to Oilfield equipment
