Division: Asset Operations & Capital Delivery

Location: Slough - SL1 9EB

Contract type: Permanent

Full/Part-time: Full-time

Hours: 38 Hours, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm

Salary: Offering up to £45,000 per annum depending on experience, plus standby rota payments & overtime opportunities potentially increasing earnings by an additional £8,000-£10,000 per year upon completing essential training.

About the role:

We are recruiting an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Technician for Slough Sewage Treatment Works. You will ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance, including inspection, fault diagnosis, testing, installation, modification, and repair of electrical and mechanical plant equipment.

You will work within the maintenance team, following planned maintenance schedules, assisting in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding, and emergency repairs to keep the plant operational year-round.

Responsibilities include:
  • Performing scheduled maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment to minimize breakdowns.
  • Diagnosing and repairing plant failures promptly to prevent process interruptions.
  • Providing technical advice, training, and support to trainees as needed.
  • Working on equipment such as pumps, control gear, motors, VSDs, valves, sensors, PLCs, and chemical dosing systems.
  • Participating in standby rota after training.
Location & Working Pattern:

Slough – SL1 9EB, 38 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, with standby and overtime opportunities.

Candidate requirements:
  • Time-served apprentice with significant electrical experience in a multi-skilled capacity.
  • Qualifications: electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC, NVQ, or C&G Level 3 in mechanical engineering, with mechanical NVQ2/3 as an advantage.
  • Up-to-date mechanical and electrical skills for maintaining, fault diagnosis, testing, and repairs.
  • Physical fitness and willingness to work in confined spaces (training provided).
  • Valid driving license; tools and vehicle provided.
