Job title: Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Technician Ref 38353

Division: Asset Operations & Capital Delivery

Location: Bicester - OX25 2NY

Contract type: Permanent

Full/Part-time: Full-time

Hours: 38 hours, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, plus standby rota payments & overtime opportunities, potentially increasing earnings by £8,000-£10,000 per year after training

Salary: Up to £37,500 per annum, depending on experience

Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Technician for our Waste Treatment Division to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently through proactive and reactive maintenance.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Maintain various pumps, control gear, 3-phase motors, starters, electronic control systems (VSDs, automatic valves, penstocks), flow, level, and pressure measurement devices, PLCs, chemical handling, and dosing equipment.
  2. Investigate plant failures, perform repairs promptly to minimize downtime, including diagnosing complex faults.
  3. Conduct planned maintenance to enhance plant resilience, adhering to safety standards.
  4. Provide technical advice, stay updated with technical knowledge, and support training for trainees.
  5. Participate in a 24/7 standby rota after training and assessment.
Qualifications and Skills
  • ONC/HNC or C&G Level 3 in Electrical Engineering, NVQ Level 2/3 in Mechanical is beneficial but not essential.
  • Valid driving license is essential.
  • Experience in electrical apprenticeship with 18th Edition qualification is required.
  • Physically fit for work in confined spaces, with appropriate training.
  • Strong health and safety awareness.
  • Experience as a time-served apprentice in electrical systems, capable of working in a multi-skilled capacity.
  • Self-motivated, disciplined, eager to learn, and proactive in fault response and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude and accountability.
