Job description

One of the best nuclear companies in the UK is looking to bring on a mechanical designer for a 12 month contract to support a fantastic project in the nuclear space.

  • Job Title - Mechanical Designer
  • Location - Warrington
  • Contract Length - 12 Months
  • Pay Rates - Up To £45 Hour

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Allocate tasks to the design team, review team drawing outputs, and ensure inter-discipline coordination in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Foster effective collaboration across the design team and other functional teams to enhance project success.
  • Assist in managing customer relationships, resolving technical and delivery issues, and ensuring that customers are fully informed and updated on project progress.
  • Advise and assist in selecting the appropriate methods and tools for design tasks, and provide technical support to the design team.
  • Contribute to the preparation and production of drawings for basic, detailed, and production design in alignment with recognized ISO standards, ensuring adherence to time, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Act as the point of contact for engineering colleagues and various stakeholders during the design lifecycle, contributing to design reviews and ensuring design coordination and functionality.
  • Help resolve production and technical queries, and develop discipline-specific solutions for the team in relation to manufacturing and installation challenges.
  • Develop innovative design solutions and fulfill Design Lead responsibilities for low-risk, multi-discipline projects.
  • Maintain awareness of advancements in design techniques, tools, and technologies, including physical integration, bill of material controls, and design maturity management.

Qualifications Required:

  • HNC/HND minimum in a relevant discipline OR equivalent academic qualification
  • Experience in a detailed design environment
  • Good knowledge of CAD tools
  • Knowledge of General Engineering Drawing Practice
