Job summary

Vickerstock is recruiting a Mechanical Design / Product Validation Engineer in West Tyrone to move beyond CAD-centric work into hands-on testing and practical engineering.

You will develop test and validation plans for machinery, lead practical testing across projects and use instrumentation to collect and analyse data.

This role suits engineers with strong problem-solving ability, a degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics, and a desire to influence product development from concept through production.

Qualifications

Mechanical Design, Project Design, Product Development or similar Engineering experience.
Experience with complex machinery, equipment or manufactured products.
Strong understanding of mechanical design and engineering principles.
Good 3D CAD experience.
Ability to understand engineering drawings and technical information.
Strong practical engineering and problem-solving capability.
Ability to analyse technical information and make engineering recommendations.
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or another relevant Engineering discipline.
Experience with hydraulics, structural design, electrical/control systems, FEA, instrumentation, sensors, data acquisition or product testing would be advantageous.
Previous formal Test or Validation Engineering experience is not required.

Responsibilities

Work closely with Design and Project Engineering teams to understand new and existing product designs
Develop test and validation plans for machinery, systems and components
Lead practical product testing across engineering projects
Determine appropriate testing requirements and methods
Set up and use engineering test equipment, instrumentation and sensors
Collect, analyse and interpret engineering test data
Use test results to identify problems and recommend design improvements
Support new product development from design through testing and into production
Investigate product failures and support root cause analysis
Contribute to design reviews and ongoing product improvement

Company and Role of Mechanical Design / Product Validation Engineer

Vickerstock are working with an established and growing engineering and manufacturing business in the recruitment of a Mechanical Design / Product Validation Engineer for their West Tyrone operation.

This is a particularly interesting opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Design or Project Design Engineer who would like to move beyond a traditional CAD-focused position and into a more practical engineering role.

Working with complete machinery, you will develop test plans, carry out practical testing, analyse engineering data and use the results to solve problems and influence future product design and development.

You do not need to currently be a Test or Validation Engineer.

We are particularly interested in experienced Design Engineers with a strong understanding of complex machinery who would like to develop their career in this direction.
