Mechanical Design Manager – Stanstead Airport

Circa £500/day Ltd / Umbrella (IR35 assessment to be run)

Manchester Airport Group (MAG) are investing £1.1B into upgrading and expanding Stanstead Airport’s buildings and infrastructure. The largest piece of the programme is a £600M project to expand the terminal buildings.

We are partnered with the principal contractor, who will be self-delivering large parts of the MEP on this project. We need to engage a Mechanical Design Manager on a contract or temp to perm basis, ideally someone with a background in the aviation industry.

What will the role look like?

  • Supporting our consultant teams to maximise their effectiveness and value optimisation in the provision of effective integrated design solutions that meet our clients our business needs (strategies and budgets).
  • Maximising the effectiveness of consultant relationships.
  • Reviewing design delivery to enhance quality of solutions and efficiency of design, procurement, manufacturing, assembly, commissioning and handover of total engineering excellent solutions for our clients.
  • Supporting our consultants in adopting client's design processes, deliver with rigour and quality project management processes and to ensure effective collaboration throughout the supply chain (using appropriate tools for this including, but not limited to, BIM/Digital Engineering).
  • Capturing business knowledge and capability enabling continuous improvement, innovation and improved capability towards an Engineering Enterprise.

What skills & experience are we looking for?

  • First degree in Mechanical Engineering. Other appropriate construction related qualification plus design related experience.
  • Approx 5 years' design management experience. Different procurement routes, different sector experience. Experience end to end in managing design – from concept to handover.
