Druck Ltd in North West Leicestershire is seeking an early-career Mechanical Design Engineer (intern) to join the Test & Calibration Instruments team. You will work on designing complex instrumentation products and pressure controllers, gaining exposure to the full development lifecycle from concept through manufacture and sale.

Qualifications

• Working towards a Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering
• Strong knowledge of 3D CAD tools (e.g. Solidworks, Pro/Engineer)
• Solid engineering understanding with practical hands-on skills
• Foundation in traditional manufacturing methods (DFM)
• Experience in design teams
• Knowledge of design principles for Manufacture and Assembly
• Ability to generate high-quality engineering drawings/specifications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good people and time management skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Responsibilities

• Design and validate mechanical assemblies/fixturing/enclosures to specs and deadlines in plastic and metal
• Develop and release design docs including drawings, hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, system assemblies and user manuals
• Participate in FMEA and process mapping to minimize design risks and improve outcomes
• Provide timely communications on significant issues or developments
• Present or review technical and program reviews
• Document technical data per engineering policies
• Contribute to long-term design process improvements for productivity
• Initiate and implement design changes per procedures
• Provide manufacturing technical support and solutions for production problems
• Maintain high-quality documentation for conformity and explanations
• Review design specs and requirements capture
• Collaborate across continents with remote teams
• Support external customers, internal sales and marketing
• Continuously develop internal operating procedures
