Job description

Red Bull Powertrains has 2 exciting Mechanical Design ICE Student Placement opportunities for undergraduate students to spend a year as part of our Mechanical Design ICE team. The placements will start in summer 2025 and last for one year, offering a chance to demonstrate enthusiasm and apply knowledge in a dynamic environment.

These placements allow you to contribute to the mechanical engineering of Red Bull Powertrain's (RBPT) 2026 Formula 1 Power Unit. You will learn about engineering design principles for F1 Power Units, failure mode analysis techniques, and develop engineering skills by solving technical challenges faced by RBPT on the path to 2026. You will be involved in all stages of the engineering process, from conceptual design to manufacturing review and power unit testing in our in-house dyno facility. Successful candidates will have a keen interest in mechanical design and development.

Expected Knowledge and Experience
  • Knowledge and experience from at least one year of undergraduate study in mathematics, physics, or engineering-based degree courses
  • Knowledge of engineering software relevant to the chosen specialization, such as CAD, FEA, CFD, or system modeling
  • Ability to apply engineering mathematics to problem-solving
  • Experience in writing and preparing technical reports and documentation
  • Experience in handling, processing, and understanding data from virtual or physical testing
