Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to design mechanical building services from concept to installation, producing calculations, specs and reports. You will develop drawings using AutoCAD and BIM, liaise with teams, contractors and clients, and participate in reviews and workshops to ensure compliance with UK standards.

The role involves site visits, supporting construction and handover, and contributing to multidisciplinary projects across healthcare, data centres

Qualifications

• Degree or HND in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer, Design Engineer or Product Design role.
• Strong understanding of HVAC, heating, cooling, ventilation and public health systems.
• Knowledge of British Standards, Building Regulations and CIBSE guidance.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and engineering calculation software.
• Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Competent in Microsoft Office and digital project collaboration tools.

• Knowledge of BREEAM, LEED or WELL sustainability frameworks.
• Experience delivering commercial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, industrial or data centre projects.
• Understanding of modular and off-site construction methodologies.
