Mechanical Design Engineer – West Yorkshire – Special Purpose Machinery – £35-39k

Samuel Frank is recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a bespoke, special purpose machine manufacturer based in West Yorkshire. Given the suggested salary range, the successful Mechanical Design Engineer is likely to have around 3-5 years relevant experience.

Key aspects of the Mechanical Design Engineer role include;

  • Competent in technical aspects of mechanical design and ideally development of special purpose machinery
  • Experience of working within a multi–skilled environment (i.e., knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic and electrical components)
  • You’ll have the support and guidance of your team i.e. they’re not looking for the finished article but someone who asks good questions, can think on their feet and who is comfortable working on a range of projects/equipment.
  • 3D CAD mechanical design experience using SolidWorks– preferred (Inventor or Solid Edge experience also considered)
  • Produce design calculations for others to check and approve.
  • Produce and develop 3D models, create manufacturing drawings and issue the drawings for checking.
  • Provide a high level of commercial awareness to ensure design solutions are delivered in a cost-effective manner & design changes are managed in accordance with standard operation procedures
  • Visit site as required to carry out site surveys
  • The role is office based – 8-4.30pm Monday-Thursday and 8-2pm on Fridays
  • Additional hours worked can be taken off as time in lieu

The company is easily commutable from large parts of West Yorkshire including places such as Leeds, Bradford, Keighley, Ilkley, Skipton, Shipley, Halifax and Otley.
