As we support the Royal Navy as the UK's nuclear submarine technical authority, we are expanding our capabilities in the submarine and nuclear sectors.

We are seeking individuals with a strong background in Mechanical Design Engineering to support areas including:

  • Nuclear primary components, including the reactor core
  • Secondary propulsion components
  • In-service support and maintenance
  • Special purpose tools and equipment
  • Future product development

Our hybrid working model allows flexibility between office, home, or remote locations, with an expectation of attending the workplace approximately three days per week for collaboration and specific activities.

Responsibilities

You will create component, assembly, and system designs with through-life justification, considering life, cost, availability, and safety margins.

Additionally, you will:

  • Develop solutions and justifications robust against variation, considering the full lifecycle.
  • Integrate cross-disciplinary concepts including manufacturing, simulation, materials, testing, and supply chain.
  • Document and verify information following sound mechanical engineering practices.
  • Present at technical reviews and publish safety and technical reports subject to scrutiny.
Candidate Profile
  • Experience in relevant disciplines, not limited to Submarines.
  • Degree qualified or apprentice trained in engineering preferred, but relevant experience is also valued.
  • Experience from industries such as Civil Nuclear, Marine, Petro-Chemical, or Oil & Gas is beneficial.
