Job summary

Pertemps Specialist Talent Solutions seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer for special purpose machinery in Manchester. You will contribute across the full lifecycle, from concept development and site measurements to manufacturing drawings and installation.

You will create 3D models and 2D fabrication drawings in SolidWorks, select components, and ensure designs are practical and manufacturable with workshop collaboration.

Qualifications

• Mechanical design experience in manufacturing or special‑purpose machinery.
• Experience producing manufacturing drawings and assemblies.
• Good knowledge of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD.
• Understand DFMA principles and tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical equipment and assemblies from concept to manufacture.
• Produce 3D models and detailed 2D drawings using SolidWorks.
• Create fabrication drawings for laser cutting, folding, welding, assembly.
• Design machined components including shafts, housings and brackets.
• Apply tolerances, fits and manufacturing process considerations.
• Assist with material selection and ensure designs are manufacturable.
• Collaborate with fabricators and workshop personnel to support projects.
• Attend customer sites for measurements and installations.
