Job summary

NTWRX in Leicester is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design of special purpose machinery from concept through to manufacture. You will work closely with electrical, controls, manufacturing and project teams to deliver robust, cost‑effective mechanical solutions for bespoke equipment.

The ideal candidate has strong SPM design experience, a solid background in 3D CAD and a track record of delivering projects on time and to spec.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Experience designing bespoke machinery or automation systems.
Strong 3D CAD capability with typical toolsets (Inventor, Solid Edge or SolidWorks).
Ability to produce detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing drawings.

Responsibilities

Design bespoke special purpose machinery and automated equipment from concept through to manufacture.
Produce detailed 3D models, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
Develop mechanical concepts based on customer and project requirements.
Select appropriate components, materials and manufacturing methods.
Work with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure designs are practical and cost‑effective.
Review and improve existing machinery designs where required.
Support build, installation and commissioning of machinery.
Liaise with suppliers and customers as needed.
Ensure designs meet standards and project specifications.
Manage multiple projects to deadlines.
