Job summary

Capgemini Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead and deliver mechanical design and development activities for OME, ensuring work meets cost, schedule and quality standards. The role covers the full lifecycle from concept to prototyping, with collaboration across Design Authorities, Supply Chain and Manufacturing.

Security clearance is required, and UK nationality is necessary for the role.

Qualifications

• Lead and complete mechanical design and development tasks in line with project plans, ensuring delivery to cost, schedule, and quality standards.
• Experience of mechanical design throughout the design lifecycle
• Develop robust concepts, generate detailed mechanical and assembly drawings (preferably using PTC Windchill and CREO), and ensure adequate engineering due diligence as designs mature.
• Prototype intricate or high-risk design elements to verify compliance.
• Prepare and participate in internal technical reviews, securing stakeholder buy-in for design decisions.
• Deliver accurate, independently reviewed data packs within CAD and configuration management systems.
• Communicate progress, risks, and issues effectively to Project Management.
• Work collaboratively across engineering disciplines as well as with Design Authorities, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams.
