Qualifications

  • Degree qualified mechanical engineer (or relevant qualification).
  • Experience in requirements capture, including functional, non-functional, stakeholder, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in generating design solutions via formal optioneering or similar processes.
  • Experience in mechanical engineering substantiation for new designs or existing plant.
  • Experience in writing detailed technical reports (design calculations, safety case reports, etc.).
  • Delivery accountability for mechanical engineering solutions.
  • Ability to liaise with, present to, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven track record of working effectively in project teams.

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives on solving difficult engineering problems? Are you drawn to complex projects and excited by the opportunity to rapidly progress into leadership positions, heading up projects and guiding junior engineers?

If so, you might enjoy solving the energy industry’s most important mechanical engineering conundrums for a multitude of energy systems across various clients. You could be designing test rigs for UK nuclear fusion development, assessing structural integrity of primary plant for civil and defense applications, designing high integrity structures for new nuclear facilities, or leading renewable energy projects within a growing carbon net zero portfolio. The role involves managing multiple projects simultaneously, so adaptability is essential. The common theme is engaging with complex jobs and providing innovative solutions for diverse clients.

Whatever projects you undertake, you'll contribute to solving critical problems in the energy sector, making a meaningful impact on UK and global energy and environmental security.

Role Requirements:
  • Degree qualified mechanical engineer (or relevant qualification)
  • Experience in requirements capture, including functional, non-functional, stakeholder, and regulatory requirements
  • Experience in generating design solutions via formal optioneering or similar processes
  • Experience in mechanical engineering substantiation for new designs or existing plant
  • Experience in writing detailed technical reports (design calculations, safety case reports, etc.)
  • Delivery accountability for mechanical engineering solutions
  • Ability to liaise with, present to, and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Proven track record of working effectively in project teams

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience working with industry design codes
  • Experience in bid writing within safety-critical and regulated environments
  • Chartered status or nearing chartered status with a relevant professional institute
