Mechanical Design Engineer - Water Industry

Manchester | Permanent or Contract | Full-time (Office-based, flexibility considered)

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer ready for a new challenge in the water industry? Our client, a forward-thinking design consultancy, is expanding their Manchester office and seeking skilled engineers to support the delivery of water and wastewater projects nationwide.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in developing sustainable engineering solutions for critical infrastructure.

What you'll be doing
  • Designing mechanical systems for clean water and wastewater treatment plants.
  • Developing layouts, specifications, and equipment schedules for pumping stations, pipework, and treatment facilities.
  • Coordinating with electrical, civil, and process engineers to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Involvement from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design.
  • Ensuring compliance with technical standards, client specifications, and health & safety requirements.
What we're looking for
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience in the UK water industry highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of pumps, pipelines, valves, and treatment process equipment.
  • Proficiency with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
