Job summary

Recruit Engineering is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to work on technically challenging projects from concept through to manufacture, installation and final sign-off. You will deliver innovative mechanical designs, run calculations, create drawings and BOMs, and support bids and site activities.

You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to process improvements while maintaining safety and quality standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Proven mechanical design experience in engineering, manufacturing or project-based environments.
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and product development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (Inventor/AutoCAD/SolidWorks) and producing manufacturing drawings.
• Experience with engineering calculations and analysis methods including FEA.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills; able to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical design solutions across multiple projects with limited supervision.
• Apply engineering principles to solve complex technical challenges.
• Own significant project elements and smaller standalone projects.
• Perform design calculations using hand methods, spreadsheets, FEA and software.
• Produce and review drawings, specifications and BOMs.
• Support bids and proposals with concept development, risk analysis and cost estimation.
• Attend client reviews, design studies and feasibility assessments.
• Participate in site surveys, technical meetings and client presentations.
