Select MEP is a fast-growing, innovative M&E (Mechanical and Electrical) Design Consultancy based in Nottingham. We specialise in delivering high-quality, energy-efficient engineering solutions across a wide range of sectors — including Industrial, Retail, historic and listed buildings, and Residential (high end single occupancy to multi occupancy apartments) sectors.

Our work spans all project stages, from Stage 3 concept designs to Stage 5 detailed designs, with a strong commitment to maintaining the integrity of new and existing buildings while implementing modern and efficient mechanical systems. The Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced Intermediate OR Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team. This is a hybrid role, with flexibility to work from home while attending the Nottingham office a few times per week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and design mechanical building services systems, including Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, Public Health and Plant Rooms.
• Produce detailed design packages: schematics, layouts, calculations, and specifications
• Deliver mechanical designs across project stages (Stage 3 – Stage 5)
• Ensure designs meet relevant industry standards, regulations, and energy efficiency targets
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary design teams for integrated building services solutions
• Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure the quality and compliance of installations
• Attend client meetings and liaise with contractors, stakeholders, and consultants
• Mentor and support junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge sharing
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, standards, technologies, and best practices

About You:

• Minimum HNC Qualified.
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in mechanical building services design within a consultancy or contractor environment
• Strong proficiency with AutoCAD for mechanical services drawings (essential)
• Experience with Revit MEP () — or willingness to develop skills
• Proven experience delivering detailed mechanical design at Stage 4+
• Strong technical understanding of mechanical design principles and UK regulations
• Ability to manage multiple projects, work to deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative team skills
• Based in Nottinghamshire or within daily commuting distance to Nottingham city centre
• Right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
