Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for our client with a strong background in HVAC and building services design. You will be responsible for leading the mechanical design process from feasibility through to construction support, with a particular focus on bespoke aircon and ventilation solutions.Key Responsibilities: * Lead the mechanical design of HVAC systems (air conditioning and ventilation) for new build and refurbishment projects across various sectors including healthcare, education, and commercial. * Produce detailed mechanical designs including schematics, layout drawings, ductwork and pipework sizing, and equipment selection. * Prepare and review technical specifications, tender documents, and schedules. * Collaborate with project managers, installation teams, and clients to ensure designs are practical, efficient, and compliant with current UK building regulations and standards (e.g., CIBSE, BSRIA). * Conduct site surveys and liaise with installers and contractors to provide technical support during project delivery. * Perform thermal and ventilation load calculations using industry-standard software (e.g., Hevacomp, IES, AutoCAD, Revit MEP). * Participate in design review meetings and provide engineering input during project planning and execution. * Requirements: * Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical design within the UK building services sector. HVAC* * Proven experience working on HVAC systems in commercial offices, schools, hospitals, and public buildings. * Strong understanding of UK building regulations, CIBSE guidelines, and sustainable design principles. * Proficient in CAD (2D/3D), Revit MEP, and HVAC design software. * Excellent communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects. * HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent). * Membership of CIBSE or IMechE (desirable).Apply today
