Job summary

ACS Performance in Market Harborough is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to own the design and development of a counter–UAS system. The role combines mechanical CAD work with hands–on engineering, including prototyping, fabrication and integration across electromechanical subsystems.

You will lead from concept to working hardware in a dynamic defence technology environment, contributing across the full development lifecycle and collaborating with the wider team to solve challenging technical

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical design engineering experience.
• Excellent CAD skills.
• Experience taking designs from initial concept through to physical hardware.
• Hands–on prototyping, fabrication and workshop experience.
• Understanding of electrical and electronic systems, including schematics, actuators, power and wiring.
• Strong problem–solving skills and a practical engineering mindset.
• Ability to thrive within a fast–moving, early–stage engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and development activities for advanced electromechanical systems.
• Design airframes, structures, mechanisms and actuation systems.
• Support sensor head and subsystem integration.
• Produce detailed CAD designs and develop concepts into prototypes and production–ready solutions.
• Design and build test rigs and specialist engineering equipment.
• Undertake hands–on fabrication, assembly, testing and fault finding.
• Work across mechanical, electrical and electronic interfaces.
• Support rapid prototyping, development and iteration of new products.
• Work closely with the wider engineering team to solve complex technical challenges.
