Job summary

AMF Recruitment Ltd in Castleford is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a permanent role. You will design components and assemblies, applying robust engineering principles and hands-on testing to drive product development from concept to production.

The role requires strong knowledge of manufacturing processes including injection moulding, casting and machining. You will conduct FEA analyses, specify tolerances, select materials, and collaborate with suppliers to optimise design quality

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of injection moulding, casting, and machining processes.
• Good understanding of tolerancing (e.g. GD&T) and material specifications.
• Experience with FEA tools and analysis.
• Proven ability to conduct testing and interpret results.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop components and assemblies using robust engineering principles.
• Work with manufacturing methods including injection moulding, casting, and machined components.
• Specify and manage tolerances and material selections to ensure performance and manufacturability.
• Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to validate and optimise designs.
• Plan and carry out testing, analyse results, and drive continuous improvement.
• Take full ownership of design projects from concept through to production.
• Ensure work is delivered in line with project deadlines and business priorities.
• Liaise with suppliers to support design development and manufacturing processes.
