Job Description:

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer who can use SOLIDWORKS and has experience designing material handling equipment and machine layouts for manufacturing plants, including steelwork for Skid Frames, Mechanical Equipment Assess Platforms, Staircases, Equipment Support Structures, and Portal Frame Buildings.

Established in 2012 by Design Engineers, the company is a small business located in Derby, recently acquired by a founding member to drive growth. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will join a company providing Design Consultancy services across the UK. They are professional, innovative, and thrive on quality work. The work is project-based, varied, and fast-paced.

The company designs and details for manufacture and installation bespoke mechanical and structural solutions, specializing in industrial plant design, particularly bulk materials handling and processing of powders and liquids.

The majority of designs are one-offs. They produce detailed manufacturing drawings for items such as silos, hoppers, belt conveyors, bucket elevators, mills, dryers, and coolers, and undertake structural design and steelwork detailing for plant structures, access, and portal frame buildings.

They also undertake product design and development for clients, ranging from major blue-chip companies to small local fabricators.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, using CAD software like SOLIDWORKS, you will primarily design and detail plant layout, bespoke systems, and equipment from proposal to commissioning. The role includes basic project management. It is primarily home-based with occasional office and site visits.
