Job summary

RED Engineering Design is seeking an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer for our London or Bicester offices. This role involves running small projects, developing building services designs, and coordinating with clients and contractors in a UK environment.

You will work towards MCIBSE/MIEE and Chartered Eng status, with hybrid working options and a comprehensive benefits package. Prior consulting or construction exposure is preferred.

Qualifications

• HND or degree qualified or equivalent experience.
• Working towards MCIBSE/MIEE or equivalent.
• Working towards Chartered Eng status.
• Experience of specification design/drawing for at least one building type.
• Sound knowledge of Health and Safety issues and legislation.
• Knowledge of MS Office, Excel, etc.
• Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software.
• Good understanding of BS standards.
• Ability to prioritise own workload.
• Ability to work to deadlines.
• Background in consulting or construction preferred.

Responsibilities

• Running of small projects.
• Researches, develops, designs and coordinates engineering project services for mechanical or electrical installations.
• Develops specifications for controls, instruments, and operating systems.
• Surveys tests and reports on existing installations.
• Specifies activities to ensure conformance to specifications and customer requirements.
• Represents the company at technical meetings with customers and contractors.
• Prepares specification modifications (Word or Excel).
• Ensures calculations and drawings meet industry and legal standards.
• Validates input from Intermediate & Graduate Engineers.
• Supports project delivery per RED processes including PM, QA/QC and technical reviews.
