Job summary

ATA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer in Telford to design bespoke industrial equipment from concept through to manufacture. You will work with production, project and engineering teams on innovative solutions in a heavy engineering environment.

You will produce accurate 3D models and drawings, manage BOMs, and support manufacturing with technical queries, ensuring designs meet customer and quality standards across UK and international projects.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Mechanical Design Engineer position.
• Strong Autodesk Inventor experience.
• AutoCAD Mechanical experience.
• Experience creating manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
• Understanding of fabrication, machining and manufacturing processes.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 3D models and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor.
• Create accurate manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
• Generate and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Develop designs from customer specifications and project requirements.
• Prepare assembly and manufacturing documentation.
• Ensure drawings contain appropriate dimensions, tolerances and material specifications.
• Revise and update existing engineering designs.
• Support production teams with technical queries.
• Assist with resolving manufacturing and design–related issues.
• Maintain engineering documentation and drawing revisions.
• Ensure designs comply with customer, quality and engineering standards.
