Job description

Reports to

Technical Director

Role Purpose

To evaluate and understand project and product design requirements and provide effective mentoring of all CAD Engineers. Seek to analyse existing designs with a view to increase efficiency or improve performance. Develop the drawing facilities within the Company.

Accountabilities

  • Create structured design packs consisting of manufacture drawings, assembly drawings, layout drawings, bills of materials and other relevant documents.
  • Generate solid models and engineering drawings from information supplied by project engineers and managers.
  • Interpret customers design requirements, tackle engineering problems arising from designs ensuring solutions are implemented.
  • Technically assist manufacturing, sales, procurement and project teams within the Company as well as customers and suppliers.
  • Participate in design reviews, ensure revision control in drawings/designs and contribute to production planning and meetings.
  • Complete design risk assessments of equipment and/or systems.
  • Understand how relevant components, parts and instrumentation work and how these items should be installed and maintained.
  • Work in collaboration with the process engineering team to ensure process specific requirements are captured within the design development of equipment.
  • Have a good understanding of the design, function and build process of the process equipment and products built by the Company.
  • Communicate with other engineers working on projects to ensure the different segments come together to make the overall system/design pack work.
  • Be responsible for CAD Engineer in a mentoring role to include guidance and development of the post holder.
  • Develop and further extend proficient computer and application skills to include technical knowledge of computer assisted design (CAD) software.
  • Carry out site surveys as required.
  • Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and produce technical reports.
  • Test, collect and analyse data from tests on designs, modifying designs and retesting.
  • Assist when required with marketing drives and the creation of technical marketing material.

Essential:

  • Formal qualification in an engineering discipline, HND/HNC minimum, e.g. mechanical engineering, systems engineering would be considered

Desirable:
