Teamjobs is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our exclusive client in Yeovil.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a self-motivated engineer with experience in the aerospace industry.

You will be required to design, develop, and test all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.

Applicants should have knowledge of engineering principles to design products such as engines, instruments, controls, robots, and machines. They should be familiar with commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field and be able to work under supervision to perform the job functions.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm, with some flexibility to work over 4 days.

The pay rate is £35.00–£45.00 per hour, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

• Focus on REACH obsolescence within the current product range, identifying obsolescence and investigating suitable alternatives based on product specifications.
• Support development of concept designs, including analysis, with awareness of manufacturing methodologies and cost considerations.
• Perform detailed design work and process engineering changes.
• Manage all drawings and associated project documentation.
• Work on complex aerospace engineering projects across various areas.

Necessary skills include:

• Attention to detail by reviewing existing drawings for REACH obsolescence and creating investigation reports.
• Producing detailed designs and layouts to meet customer requirements and specifications.
• Responsibility for completing and checking drawing packs and supporting documentation.
• Delivering on project schedules and milestones within a team environment.
• Flexibility and willingness to go beyond your usual scope of work.
• Experience in small component design, design for manufacturing principles, and fine tolerance components is desirable.

Drug screening and DBS check are required.
