Mechanical Design Engineer

I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and highly respected engineering firm that specialises in the design, manufacture, and installation of bespoke automation, assembly, and testing machinery .

With over 30 years of experience, this organisation delivers custom-engineered solutions to some of the most demanding sectors, including automotive, aerospace, and advanced manufacturing. Their projects range from small-scale tooling fixtures to fully automated end-of-line testing systems, all tailored to meet exacting client specifications.

The Role:

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be a key contributor to the development of complex mechanical systems. Your responsibilities will include:

* Designing mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
* Producing detailed technical drawings and documentation for manufacture and assembly.
* Conducting engineering analysis including tolerance studies and FEA.
* Collaborating with electrical engineers, software developers, and project managers to deliver integrated solutions.
* Supporting the build, testing, and commissioning of machinery both in-house and on-site.
* Participating in design reviews and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

About You:

* Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in mechanical design, ideally within automation, special purpose machinery, or manufacturing.
* Strong proficiency in CAD and a solid understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
