Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Worthing Contract Type: Permanent Salary: GBP40,000 – GBP45,000 Hours: Mon–Thurs 08:00–17:00, Fri 08:00–13:00 Start Date: ASAP

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Design Application Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team. This role is ideal for a proactive and experienced design engineer looking to take ownership of projects from concept to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Create layout, assembly, and detailed manufacturing drawings using 2D/3D CAD software.
• Provide technical support for standard products to customers and the sales team, including occasional site visits.
• Develop concept design proposals to support new business opportunities.
• Collaborate with cross–functional teams on new product development from idea to launch.
• Conduct engineering studies to assess feasibility of new concepts.
• Support quality teams in evaluating product failures or returns.
• Generate bills of materials for new configurations and products.
• Produce CAD–based documentation including datasheets, work instructions, and marketing materials.
• Assist in the administration of the design department.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a design engineering role.
• Proficient in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
• Strong problem–solving and communication skills.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
