Mechanical Design Engineer – 4 day week!

Overview

Are you a creative and driven Mechanical Design Engineer looking to make an impact in the world of automation and bespoke machinery? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a cutting–edge engineering team that designs and delivers innovative solutions for global clients. You'll be part of a fast–paced environment where your ideas and expertise will help shape the future of industrial automation. This is based from our client's HQ in Derry and offers a 4 day working week.

Responsibilities
  • Develop mechanical design concepts for special purpose machinery, robotic automation, and assembly systems.
  • Deliver cost–effective, high–quality design solutions that meet client specifications and project milestones.
  • Collaborate with cross–functional teams including electrical engineers, project managers, and production staff.
  • Source components and build relationships with suppliers to meet custom design requirements.
  • Produce detailed documentation including BOMs and design reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality, environmental, and health & safety standards.
Criteria
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 2–3 years' experience in a mechanical design role, ideally within industrial automation.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, particularly SolidWorks.
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
