Mechanical Design Engineer

35,000– 40,000

Monday to Friday 9am – 5.30pm

Our client is a well–established, family–run business specialising in the design and manufacture of bespoke machinery and processing equipment for the food industry

Due to continued growth, they are looking to expand the team with a Mechanical Design Engineer

You'll be joining a supportive and innovative engineering team where your skills can make a real impact

The Role

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of custom machinery, working on–site at their Newtownards facility. You will work closely with customer and the internal team to bring tailored engineering solutions to life.

• Designing bespoke machinery and fabrications to customer specifications
• Visiting customer sites to take measurements and determine technical requirements
• Creating and modifying drawings using SolidWorks
• Producing detailed production drawings for manufacture
• Ensuring designs are practical, efficient, and support ease of manufacturing
• Liaising with the production team to resolve technical design issues
• Organising and maintaining comprehensive design records

What We Are Looking For

• A minimum of 5 years' experience in machine building and design
• A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• Strong skills in SolidWorks
• A proven track record in a similar role
• Experience in the food industry
• Solid knowledge of materials science and manufacturing processes
• Excellent problem–solving and communication skills
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A full, clean driving license
