Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Control, develop, and implement plans and procedures.
  • Design, evaluate, and ensure the technical governance of projects.
  • Identify resource requirements and carry out activities.
  • Apply health, safety, environmental, and waste management processes.
  • Manage and execute contract and project works.
  • Resolve technical queries and develop solutions.
  • Write technical specifications.
  • Monitor plans and procedures for compliance.
  • Engage effectively with regulators and stakeholders.
  • Support independent verification and substantiation reports.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations.
  • Create design documentation.

Job description

NUVIA UK's Technical Services & Consulting department is rapidly growing, with hybrid opportunities available across the country. We aim to build a multidisciplinary team to offer our clients a broad range of talent.

We are seeking mechanical design engineers to join our design team to deliver design packages supporting projects. The ideal candidate should have a good working knowledge of MAN 0004 (Engineering), a solid understanding of Dounreay design processes, and familiarity with design governance and its application.

Responsibilities:

  1. Control, develop, and implement plans and procedures
  2. Design, evaluate, and ensure the technical governance of projects
  3. Identify resource requirements to prepare for and carry out activities
  4. Apply health, safety, environmental, and waste management processes in engineering activities, consulting specialists as needed
  5. Manage and execute contract and project works, ensuring industry standards are followed
  6. Resolve technical queries and develop solutions for operational problems
  7. Write technical specifications
  8. Monitor plans and procedures to ensure compliance with schedules, safety, and legislation
  9. Engage effectively with regulators and stakeholders on specific projects
  10. Support independent verification and substantiation reports
  11. Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations
  12. Create design documentation, including reports, proposals, specifications, calculations, and drawings
  13. Perform management responsibilities related to the role

Qualifications and Experience:

  • HND in Engineering or equivalent, based on Engineering Council standards for Engineering Technicians
  • Relevant experience in mechanical engineering
  • Good understanding of design governance, including low risk and full design processes
  • Post-specific capability assessment
