Job description

Social network you want to login/join with:

You’re not just designing machines; you’re solving problems.

You’re the brain behind the design, the one who takes a customer’s challenge & turns it into a working machine.

You have the ability to blend the creative, open-minded conceptual work with the precision, accuracy, and eye for detail of the finished result.

As Design Engineer, you’ll take a customer spec and build a solution from the ground up. You’ll create the concept, map out how it works mechanically, model it in Inventor, and carry it through to full design. These are large, complex handling systems, built for tough environments, often offshore, and each one is different.

You’ll work across long-running, technically detailed projects, alongside a team of 8 other Design Engineers, in a business founded and run by Engineers. This isn’t fast turnaround or minor tweaks. As Design Engineer, you’ll have time to do the job properly, with support from experienced colleagues and the autonomy to take ownership of your designs.

Stress analysis, structural integrity, FEA, tolerances, pipework…this is engineering with depth.

And if something doesn’t quite land on the shopfloor, you’ll be involved in the fix, not blamed for it, that’s the kind of team you’ll be part of here.

What’s in it for you as Design Engineer?
  1. A wide range of projects… significant diversity of technology and application
  2. Structured hours, early Friday finish, no long shifts or late nights
  3. Work that’s challenging but achievable… with space to think, and support when you need it
  4. Direct contact with the shopfloor, service team, suppliers and sales…you’ll see the full picture
  5. Real scope to grow, this role is designed to move into a lead position over time
  6. An employee-owned business where engineers still shape the future and share in the profits

As Design Engineer, you’ll work alongside others who bring different areas of expertise. You won’t be left to figure it out alone, but you won’t be micromanaged either.

The engineering team is close-knit, practical, and up for sharing knowledge. If you value being hands-on and having real input, you’ll fit right in.

You’ll be based on-site in Telford, with the occasional visit to suppliers or customers when needed. The setup is compact, no layers of red tape, just people who want to build great machines and do the job properly.

You’ll need:
  1. To be experienced in mechanical design, ideally in offshore, marine or machinery environments.
  2. A strong grasp of Inventor 3D, stress analysis, and FEA.
  3. To feel confident working through calculations, tolerances, and production-ready drawings.
  4. Curiosity, calm thinking, and the ability to own a design from start to finish.
  5. A strong eye for detail and accuracy of the end result, balanced with a creative approach to problem solving.
  6. A genuine interest in solving problems through mechanical engineering.

The salary is £50,000 to £55,000. But if you’ve got lots of experience in this kind of work, don’t rule yourself out; they’re building for the long term and looking to strengthen the team.

Monday to Thursday 8am to 4.45pm

Friday 8am to 12pm

33 days holiday including bank holidays
