About the role: Mechanical Design Engineer

As a Mechanical Design Engineer in our 'Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology' (ADS&T) business, you will lead a variety of projects, from niche consultancy to large, high-profile programmes.

Contribute to impactful projects such as aircraft electrification or designing equipment supporting the UK's Continuous at Sea Deterrent, making a significant difference in advancing technology.

Your responsibilities:

• Support or lead the creation of optimal design solutions to meet client requirements.
• Produce calculations and justifications demonstrating design performance.
• Author and update technical documents.
• Manage project delivery within time, cost, and quality constraints.
• Review colleagues’ work to support quality assurance.
• Present work to clients during formal reviews.
• Collaborate within project teams, including placements at clients’ sites.

What you bring:

• Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Chartership with a relevant engineering institution or working towards it.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and their application.
• Experience in the full design lifecycle: requirements capture, concept generation, development, and selection.
• Familiarity with safety-critical industry standards and codes.
• Experience producing design documentation, calculations, reports, and specifications.
• Leadership experience in delivering mechanical engineering projects.
• Experience in the nuclear or other safety-critical industries.
