Job summary

System Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced 3D CAD Mechanical Design Engineer for a UK automation solutions company near Rochester (Kent). You will design mechanical concepts for robotic automation using 3D modelling, perform detailed design and calculations, and support commissioning and testing to ensure project deadlines are met.

The role is office-based in Rochester and requires a mechanical engineering degree and proven 3D CAD experience, preferably Autodesk Inventor.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in mechanical design of industrial equipment.
• Ability to develop fully functional concepts to production-ready designs.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Knowledge of end-of-arm tooling and fixtures desirable.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced 3D CAD Mechanical Design Engineer to join a UK automation solutions company located near Rochester (Kent).

Location: Rochester, Kent ME2 4DR – office based role.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a vital role within the company. The role will include but not limited to:

• Mechanical concept design of Robotic Automation Equipment using 3D modelling
• Detailed design using 3D modelling software
• Design calculation and verification

Project responsibilities will include customer liaison, overseeing design review meetings, specifying bought in components and costing of such, management of sub-contractors when needed, support on commissioning and testing, working closely with the senior management team making sure project deadlines are met.

Required skills and experience:

• Proven experience of mechanical design process of industrial equipment is essential.
• Develop fully functional concepts and develop into a fully functional design optimized and ready for production.
• Ability to solve engineering problems within the constraints given by the customers and internal budgets.
• Knowledge of bespoke robot end of arm tooling and fixtures is desirable but not a requirement.
• Excellent communication skills are essential.
• A mechanical engineering degree is essential along with proven 3D CAD experience, preferably in Autodesk Inventor.
