Mechanical Design Engineer

ROLE: Mechanical Design Engineer

TERM: Permanent

LOCATION: Plymouth

SALARY: GBP 30,000 - GBP 50,000, dependent on experience

My client provides super precision designs and manufacturing. They are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team in Plymouth on a permanent basis.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

1. Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
2. Strong academic core in physics and mathematics
3. At least 2 years' experience in a similar Design Engineering / CAD Operation position
4. Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
5. Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks, Inventor, Creo etc.
6. Knowledge of a variety of materials: sheet metal, injection moulded plastics etc.
7. Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
8. Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
9. Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team

The Mechanical Design Engineer Role Will Involve:

1. Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings
2. Liaising with manufacturing providers
3. Being involved in final assembly of products
4. Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports/plans
5. Updating 3D models and drawings
6. Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
7. Checking drawings for sign off
8. Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
