Job summary

Peaple Talent Ltd. is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer specialized in SolidWorks to design and develop complex components for production within an Oxford-based manufacturing setting.

You will focus on advanced 3D modelling, surfacing, and design for manufacture, taking designs from concept through to production while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure practical, manufacturable solutions.

Mechanical Design Engineer - SolidWorks

Up to £45,000 + Benefits | Oxford | Manufacturing

An established engineering and manufacturing business in Oxford is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join its team.

This is a technical design role suited to someone with strong SolidWorks experience who is comfortable designing complex components and understands what it takes to get a design from CAD into production.

You don't need to come from automotive or motorsport — the business is open to engineers from a range of manufacturing and engineering environments.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for designing and developing components and products, with a particular focus on complex 3D modelling, surfacing and design for manufacture.

Key responsibilities include:

• Creating detailed 3D models and designs using SolidWorks.
• Designing complex components featuring compound curves and organic geometry.
• Producing engineering drawings and manufacturing information.
• Designing with CNC machining and production processes in mind.
• Taking designs from initial concept through to manufacture.
• Working closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure designs are practical and achievable.
• Developing and improving existing products and components.

What We’re Looking For

The following are essential:

• 5+ years' SolidWorks experience.
• Strong ability in complex 3D modelling and surfacing.
• Experience designing smooth compound curves and organic geometry — beyond straightforward flat-edged components.
• Good understanding of CNC machining and design for manufacture.
• Experience designing components that have gone into production.
• Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to engineering design.

We’re open to candidates from any engineering or manufacturing background. Automotive or motorsport experience is not required.

What is important is that you can demonstrate the required level of SolidWorks capability and are comfortable designing complex, manufacturable components.
