Overview

An established manufacturer of bespoke bag filling and handling equipment, with over 30 years of expertise in the packing industry, is seeking an experienced Design Engineer to join their in-house design team.

This business supplies automated machinery solutions across multiple sectors, including food, building materials, aggregates, refractories, chemicals, and more. With a strong reputation for quality and innovation, they continue to expand and develop new technologies.

This is a varied and rewarding position where you'll work on both the continual improvement of existing machinery and the development of new products. You'll manage your own projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and liaise directly with customers to deliver tailored engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Design bespoke equipment using the Autodesk Design Suite
• Produce 3D models, customer proposal drawings, detailed manufacturing drawings, and BOMs
• Carry out engineering calculations (e.g. steel sections, cylinder sizes)
• Apply FEA using Autodesk Inventor and ensure compliance with industry standards
• Maintain 3D models and documentation in Autodesk Inventor/Vault
• Prepare technical documentation and machine user manuals
• Liaise with customers to agree specifications and approvals
• Collaborate with internal design, project, electrical, and fabrication teams
• Attend project meetings and site surveys
• Oversee machine build and testing processes
• Support ISO 9001 Quality System and wider company activities

Experience Required

• 4+ years of experience in mechanical design (essential)
• Proficient in Autodesk Inventor & AutoCAD (required)
• Strong background in machine/equipment design and detailed manufacturing drawings
• Knowledge of fabrication techniques and processes
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Confident working independently as well as part of a team
