About this Position

A Mechanical Design Engineer is required to join a collaborative engineering team on a 12–month contract. The role involves producing 3D CAD designs and detailed technical drawings for fabricated structures, assemblies, and vehicle system integrations. You will support projects from concept through to manufacture, with opportunities to contribute to challenging engineering solutions in the military and heavy equipment sectors.

Responsibilities

• Create 3D CAD designs and 2D drawings (BS8888), including BOMs.
• Design fabricated structural components, providing supporting calculations and FEA reports.
• Apply Design for Manufacture principles throughout the design process.
• Support manufacturing, assembly, and testing activities.
• Present design work in reviews with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage design documentation and revision control.
• Liaise with suppliers and provide technical support across the business.
• Contribute as part of a multi–disciplinary team on varied projects.

Experience Required

• Minimum 2 years relevant mechanical design experience.
• Degree qualified (BSc or BEng).
• Proficient in 2D/3D CAD (Inventor preferred; CATIA/SolidWorks considered).
• Experience producing drawings, 3D designs, and BOMs.
• Knowledge of FEA desirable but not essential.
• Strong communication, problem–solving, and organisational skills.
• Ability to work on multiple tasks and justify engineering decisions.
• Full UK driving licence required.
