Job summary

A leading engineering manufacturer in Newport is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team permanently. The ideal candidate will possess a relevant degree and experience in manufacturing. Proficiency in 3D CAD software like SolidWorks is required. You will produce designs, liaise with manufacturers, and manage project documentation. Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must. This position offers a competitive salary ranging from £30,000 to £35,000 based on experience.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team.
  • Any experience with process machinery or steel/metal materials is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Producing 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor and 2D designs with AutoCAD.
  • Liaising with manufacturing providers to ensure design specifications.
  • Inputting parts into the MRP system and creating BOMs.

ROLE - Mechanical Design Engineer

LOCATION- Newport

TERM- Permanent

SALARY- £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience

My client is a manufacturer of specialist products for a variety of sectors, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Newport area.

Graduates are also being considered for this role.

The Design Engineerwill ideally have the following attributes:

- Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
- Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks
- Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
- Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
- Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations
- Any previous experience of working with process machinery or steel / metal materials would be desirable
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Proficient using MS Office
- Excellent organisational skills and time management skills

The Design Engineer role will involve:

- Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
- Producing 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor CAD software and 2D designs with AutoCAD
- Liaising with manufacturing providers
- Being involved in final assembly of products
- Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
- Updating 3D models and drawings
- Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs
- Checking drawings for sign off
- Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
