GBP55,000 – GBP60,000 + GBP6,000 Car Allowance + Bonus

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and fast-growing design and build contractor who specialize in commercial fit-out, education, and leisure projects across North England. With project values typically ranging from GBP250k to GBP1M (and up to GBP5M), they are now looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their collaborative and forward-thinking team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company where you'll be trusted to work autonomously, supported by an experienced pre-construction and project delivery team, and treated as a key voice in the business—no micromanagement, just mutual respect and shared success.

The Role:

1. Responsible for the full mechanical design of D&B projects, typically lasting around 12 weeks.
2. Collaborate closely with pre-construction and delivery teams to ensure smooth project progression.
3. Carry out site surveys, technical assessments, and produce accurate mechanical designs.
4. Ensure all designs meet relevant regulations, industry standards, and client requirements.
5. Attend client meetings and design workshops as needed.
6. Contribute to innovative and efficient mechanical solutions across a diverse project portfolio.

What We’re Looking For:

1. Proven experience in mechanical building services design, ideally within D&B contracting.
2. Strong understanding of commercial HVAC systems and building regulations.
3. Experience across commercial fit-out, education, or leisure projects is highly desirable.
4. Able to manage your own workload and operate with a high level of autonomy.
5. Confident communicator and team player, capable of collaborating across departments.
